I was over at Heidi's Everyday Cookies at Sweet Woodruff Acres blog tonight. She is one of my all time fav bloggers. She is playing in the Fall Ya'll Bloggy Giveaway. So check out her blog for a great chance to win something. The hostess of this great give away carnival is Rocks In My Dryer . So if you just want to play or you want to join this fun event hop on over to her blog to read all about it. The event is to run the entire week of October 29th. Drum roll please...........Here is the prize I am offering up for this bloggy give away. This is a mini triptych I have left over from a recent swap. It is about the size of an ATC. It might be a tad bigger. The Angelic saying says " Life is full of moments that only you and your angel share" Click on the picture to see a bigger view. For some reason blogger is not playing nice tonight. My give away is open to whoever leaves a comment between now and Sunday night 11 pm eastern time. I will draw a name and post the winn...

Skinny Book Swap

I have been busy working on my pages for the skinny book swap Belinda is hosting on the arttechniques yahoo group. The above picture is of my first set of pages. I made the mistake of signing up for two groups of pages. As I struggled to come up with something for my second set I realized that I should just stick to one set in whatever swaps I join because once I get the first set completed I have a hard time coming up with something for the second set. The deadline is approaching. I have started my second set and I am sure will finish in time to meet the November 1st deadline. It didn't help that last week I was in bed with a nasty sinus infection so now I am feeling rushed. I can't wait to get this swap finished. I don't think I will be joining any more swaps for awhile. I am not making any art for art sake because I am consumed with this swap. I have a hard time working on anything else while I am working on swaps. I am also biting at the bit to do some soldering and I f...

Soldering Adventures

Image
Last week I placed an order with Simply Swank for their Simply Solder Art Kit. I had read a few reviews on a couple of blogs that were filled with high praise for the kit and Melissa & Lisa the owners of Simply Swank. I have to tell you that the shipping was fast. I ordered on Thursday and the kit came in on Monday. There was a problem though. The bottle of flux leaked all over the box. I immediately emailed Melissa who had taken my order over the phone on Thursday. She sent me out a new bottle of flux right away. It's great to find a company who is selling a great product and has excellent customer service. So if you were thinking about entering the world of soldered charms I highly recommend Simply Swank. I have never soldered and really had no idea of what was involved but I had seen so many cute soldered charms and I had also bought Sally Jean Alexanders book "Pretty Little Things" a few months back. After seeing all of Sally's beautiful creations I decid...

I Won a Great ATC

Image
A few weeks ago Kelsey over at ko...ok? was having a fun give away on her blog. The winner would receive a piece of her artwork. I've been a regular reader of Kelseys blog for awhile now so I knew what awesome art she creates. I would love to win a piece of her artwork so I left my comment and waited..... I did not win the original piece she had offered in her drawing but because she is so generous and giving she drew some more names. I was one of those winners so I got to pick one of her atc's. The one I picked is above. I LOVE IT! There were so many beautiful atc's to pick from but when I saw this one I knew I had to have it. She not only sent me the ATC but she also included two of her word sticker sheets. And a Moo Card with all her info on it. This is the first Moo Card I have ever seen. They are so cute. Make sure you check out her blog. She puts some great tutorials up. So THANK YOU Kelsey for the lovely ATC. I have got to figure out a way to display it where ...

I've Been Tagged

Image
Linda over at Purple Tomatoes tagged me. Thank you Linda.I think LOL..... Linda has had a big week in the world of Blogger because she is also a featured Artist over at Belinda's Crazy Art Girl's Musings . Go check it out. This is my first tag and it looks like a hard one. I'm suppose to list 6 weird or interesting things about myself. I might have a hard time coming up with six things but I'll try. Then after I list 6 things about myself I have to find another six people to tag. Here are the official rules taken from Linda's blog: list six weird/interesting things about yourself and then tag a further six bloggers (by going to their blogs and telling them to check out your blog post related to this) to keep the momentum going. List your six tagged bloggers at the bottom of your post. OK let's see what I can come up with. #1 I am weird. Everyone who knows me thinks I am weird. Why do they think I am weird you ask. Well just because I do things like make paper f...

I Love Making Backgrounds

Image
I've come to the conclusion that I love making backgrounds! Making the background is my favorite part of a project. All of the things I have been working on lately have been swaps that I have joined on my various Yahoo groups. The above picture is of my backgrounds for the 3 x 3 swap that Belinda is hosting on her CollageComposition group. I am happy with the backgrounds. I LOVE the backgrounds........... but now I don't know how to finish them off. It's after I have a background made that the problems set in for me when I am working on a swap. Am I having a " PROBLEM?" Or could it be FEAR ? I've noticed that I only have this PROBLEM when I am making something for a swap . Am I having PROBLEMS because my artwork will be judged by someone else when I am particatipating in a swap? Could it be because I know it will not be just one person that will be judging me? It could be a dozen or more people judging my artistic ability in each swap. ARTISTIC........... Ther...

Hailey's Banner

Image
Well this is a first for me. Two posts to my blog in one day......eer well night. I was visiting ArtsyMama's blog and saw her pictures of the cute little dress wall hangings she has made to sell in her Junk Bonaza booth and remembered this banner that I made for my little granddaughter Hailey's bedroom. I had meant to post a picture awhile back when I made it but I forgot. So here it is. The picture isn't very clear. The pink background of the wall did not get along very well with my flash. Hailey turned one year old yesterday! Happy Birthday Grammy's girl!
