Whimsical Butterfly and Polka Dot Canvas

Image
This is what I have been working on this past week. I recycled a 10 x 10 canvas and created this Butterfly and Polka dot painting. The pattern is painted on all four sides of the canvas. I painted the background and drew the butterfly on a piece of card stock. I painted it before cutting it out and adhering it to the canvas. I've used acrylics, gesso, a pitt pen, a sharpy and a charcoal pencil and distress ink on this piece. I still have a few finishing touches to add and then I need to seal it. Thanks for stopping by! Doodle Challenge on PID

Image
This weeks challenge on the Paper Imagery Designs yahoo group is doodle. I am not sure if the 4 x 4 above qualifies for doodling but it is my version of a doodle. I painted a piece of watercolor paper and used a stencil on top of the paint. I placed the stencil on the center of the 4 x 4 and loaded a wide regular paintbrush with 2 colors of acrylic paint. When I say regular paint brush I mean the small 3 inch cheapo brushes you buy when you are painting your house. I then pounced the paint over the stencil. Then I took the stencil and turned it over onto one of my art journal pages and rolled a brayer over it. This is a cool technique to getting a layered look to your journal pages. I learned this technique on Michelle Wards GPP Street Team blog. Let me go find the link so you can see how much fun it is and maybe you will join in on one of Michelle's monthly challenges. Here is the link for Crusade No. 28 And here is the link to my blog post showing how I used these techniques on

Here is a picture of a mixed media necklace I made a couple of weeks ago. Sorry the picture isn't very good. I can't seem to get a good shot with the lighting as it is. Thanks for stopping by! Arlene

Mixed Media Banners

Image
I recently joined a mini banner swap on one of my yahoo groups. I haven't received the swap back yet but I had so much fun with the banner and the background technique I used that I decided to make some bigger banner pieces and maybe host a swap on the Paper Imagery Designs yahoo group. If your interested I haven't posted the swap yet so join the group and more info will be coming soon! These pieces are not done yet. I still have some decorating to do but I thought I would share the before and after, once I finish them anyway. I'll also be posting the background technique to the Paper Imagery Designs blog in the near future. Thanks for stopping by! Arlene
