The Birds ~~ Local ATC Swap

Image
I've been busy working on some atc's for my monthly local atc swap. The swap is held the first Saturday of every month. This time we had to make 25 atc's. So many people have joined that we were told not to tell anyone about the swap because we could not accept any new people. The store owner allows some of the swappers to send their books in and still swap even tho they can not attend the meeting. I have mixed feelings on this practice. I can understand this partly because we are in a part of Florida that has a large population of part time residents. We call them snowbirds. These are people who have duel residency. Part of the year they live up north. During the winter they live here in Florida. Some of these people will be returning in the winter and then they will participate in the monthly meeting, I am assuming this of course because I have only been going to these swaps for a couple of months. And at this point who knows if I will still being going to the me...

Another Gothic Arch

Image
Technorati Tags: Altered Art , Mixed Media , Collage , Paper Imagery Designs , Challenge , Gothic Arch I had so much fun making the Gothic Arch for the weekly challenge at the Paper Imagery Designs Yahoo group I decided to make another one. The image is from Paper Imagery Designs . I also decided to share the before and after of my background piece. I loved the background piece before I added my elements and why I decided to cover it up with cheesecloth I don't know. But while I was in my artistic zone I thought wouldn't that look cool with some dyed cheesecloth on it. So I pulled out a baggy of dyed cheesecloth and cut up some strips. Then I took my little mini misters full of dye reinkers and pearlx and hit the cheesecloth with a couple of squirts. At first I was only going to add the cheesecloth to the left hand side. But when I was trying to lay it on the side of the arch to see what it looked like I didn't care for the way it looked. Finally...

Ranger Whitewash Challenge

Image
Here is an ATC that I made for the whitewash challenge on the Ranger group. I used the new Inkessentials white opaqued pen. I am really loving this pen! The image is Mary Beth from Paper Imagery Designs. Isn't she the sweetest little thing you've ever seen? Thanks for stopping by! Arlene

MMM Monochromatic Challenge

Image
The challenge this week over at Mixed Media Monday is monochromatic colors. Here is the atc I made for this challenge. I used an image from Paper Imagery Designs . My background is a piece of watercolor paper that I painted with pink paint and stamped gesso on with a flower stamp. I probably should have used a pink gel pen to do the outlining and dots but I don't have one and I really wanted to try out my new Ranger opaque white pen. I am happy to report that the pen worked great. I did hit a few rough spots on my atc and had to go back over a few lines but otherwise the pen glided over my wc/acrylic paint background. Matter of fact it wrote so smoothly it took me a minute to get use to it compared to the sharpie and other white gel pen I have used. Thanks for stopping by! Arlene

Art Book Pages & More

Image
I've had a very busy art weekend! You would have thought with all the holiday happenings I wouldn't have been able to find any time for art but the exact opposite occurred. Or maybe I just wanted to get some of these art book pages done and I made it happen. The above pic is an atc I made on Friday. I got a new set of clear stamps and wanted to try out the butterfly stamp. The image is from Paper Imagery Designs. All of the art on this post has images from PID. These image sheets are awesome and I am having a hard time using anything but PID images lately. My stash of images pale in comparison the these great sheets! This first page still needs a little something. It looks a little empty along the top and along the left edge. But I have to keep in mind when I bind it into my book it will look different. These pages are going to be bound into a little 5 x 7 art book that I started on a few months ago. I've still got a few pages to get done before I can start binding them tog...

Happy Fourth of July ATC's

Image
HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!! Tomorrow is my monthly atc swap at a local stamp store. The theme this month is of course the Fourth of July. When you look at some of my other art I'm sure you can see a big difference in the style of my work. I have been having the worst time lately with the themes of the swaps. The above atc's look to scrap booky to me. That is way out in left field as far as the rest of the art I create. This will only be the third time I am going to the swap and I have entertained the idea of quiting altogether but I enjoy getting together with the rest of the ladies. This is the only time I get to chat face to face with some artsy people.
