Halloween Altered Mini Book

Image
It has been awhile since I have had a chance to make any art. It's not that I haven't wanted to get down and dirty with my craft supplies but life has been busy. We moved at the beginning of August into a bigger rental. I now have a craft room. Woo Hoo but things are still packed and shelves and storage need to be figured out. I have been recycling packing paper for a while now and have a big stash of it. It was conveniently located so when I was looking through the new Paper Imagery Designs Halloween sheets I knew I wanted to use some to make a mini altered book. Pages 1 & 2 pages 3 & 4 pages 5 & 6

Painting Fabric and Making Fabric Books

Image
I haven't had a chance to do much art since my tie dying with the kids weeks ago. Yesterday I picked up a yard of canvas.  I have been wanting to do a simple book made of painted canvas and after reading something from Somerset the other night I found my inspiration. Not sure if I can find a link to share but Somerset made available a special online version for their facebook fans. Ah here is a link on Jane Eileen's blog.   The article I was interested in was written by Jane Eileen and previously published in the Summer 09 Sew Somerset. I've had a chance to throw some paint on the canvas pieces. Now I hope I can find the time to alter the pages and put the book together. This project should work out good for me since there is not alot of assembly required when it comes to binding the book.  Wish me luck! There is a lot of craziness going on around here with the kids home and my niece visiting from Georgia!

Tie Dye Fun

Last weekend I finally had a chance to pull out the Tulip Custom Dyeing Kit that I won on the ILoveToCreate.com Blog way back in September of last year. I am embaressed that it has taken me this long to get around to trying it out but this past year has been a very hectic and busy one for me I do all sorts of projects with my 12 year old daughter all the time. My 7 year old niece Rylee is visiting from Georgia. She doesn't get to do much in the crafting department so I knew I had to try this kit out while she was here. Over the past couple of months I have been collecting supplies for one big day of dying. I used mostly recycled shirts. Some of them were bought at the local Goodwill and believe it or not I actually found some at the Dollar Tree. I am assuming that the shirts from the Dollar Tree were seconds but I have not found a thing wrong with them. I also bought some onsies for the two babies in the family. About a month ago I bought a Fashion Tie Dye kit on cle...
