Butterfly Mixed Media Art Quilt

Image
Wow two posts in one day. This is what happens when I don't get around to posting weekly on my blog. Even though I sometimes don't get around to posting here on my own blog you can also find me posting on the Paper Imagery Designs blog. This week I posted a background technique tutorial. Take a look. A couple of days ago I decided I felt like sewing. This happens to me once in awhile. You see before I started doing mixed media art I did alot of sewing crafts like quilting, tote bags, christmas ornaments......those kind of things. I never got into sewing clothes though and doubt I ever will. Hey I bought my first sewing machine when I was 12 from Finger Hut with babysitting money. Do any of you remember Finger Hut LOL.  I have decided since sewing keeps calling to me every time I get stuck and can't seem to  find inspiration I am going to sew something. I've never made any fabric atc's so that is what I will probably make. So I had a specific PID image that...

A Mini Piece of Art

Image
Meet Isabella, isn't she a little darling? She is another image available from Paper Imagery Designs . The great thing about these new image sheets is that each sheet has different sizes of each image. I enjoy working in any number of sizes from inchies up to 5 x 7 so this works out well for me. And if inchies are your thing well there are also inchie images sheets. Isabella is a 2 x 2 piece I did today. I'm thinking about turning her into a soldered charm. If you haven't already checked out the new Paper Imagery Designs site your missing out. And if you have already been there you should go back and look again. New image sheets have been added. New embellishments have been added. A new Forum is up and soon there will be contests and challenges posted to the forum. So go join so you can get in on the goodies. Thanks for stopping by! Arlene

Da Vinci Transfer

Image
Here is a piece that I made today. I have been having fun this past week playing around with different ways of doing inkjet transfers. Both of the images on this piece are transfers made using the plain & photo paper transfer method found on Cyndi Lavine's Technique Tuesday Blog. I love the way the images are transparent. Ever since I read Dan Brown's novel " The Da Vinci Code " I've been fascinated with Leonardo Da Vinci. This is my tribute to him and all of the mystery that surrounds him.

Artist Trading Cards & Paper Image Transfers

Blogger is giving me a fit with these pictures! Here are some ATC's that I made this past weekend. Beware. Some of them are not the average ATC . My family is very outdoorsy so some of the things I create reflect that. Last week I found an animal encyclopedia that the binding was falling off. It made it very easy for me to tear the pages out. I have a problem tearing up books to use in my crafting. I am also a big reader so destroying books does not come easy to me. But since this book was already falling apart I decided to make some ATC's using the animal pictures. I figured my " exercise " would be to make an ATC using the animal pictures and embellishing with things from nature. I used bark from a cypress tree in my yard and handmade paper that I made from lemongrass and a wild reed that grows on our property. I really love the monkey one! The pretty one is made of fabric that is sewn onto a background of muslin. If your interested in learning how to do paper i...
