Butterflies, Birds, Backgrounds and A Give Away

Image
I want to show you an atc I made last week. Usually when I make a piece of art I use my own background. When I say my own background I mean I have started with a piece of blank watercolor paper and painted, inked, stamped or distressed it myself. It is one of my most favorite parts of the creative process. Matter of fact sometimes I like my background so much that I have a hard time covering it up to make a piece of art. For this atc below I used a pre-made atc background sheet from Paper Imagery Designs . The title of the sheet is For the Birds. PID offers a large selection of images with birds and butterflies. These sheets are my favorites and you will find the images in a lot of my art. The butterfly came from the Butterflies, Dragonflies and Insects sheet . This was one of the easiest atc's I've ever made and it is one of my favorites. There is still time to enter my atc giveaway here . The giveaway ends on July 3rd. You'll find info on the contest blog post ...

Nest Challenge

Image
This weeks challenge on the Paper Imagery Designs group is nests. I love the PID nests sheet and the atc bird sheet. They are a couple of my favorite PID image sheets. The above image is of the atc I did for the challenge. The image below is a 6 x 6 I also did for the challenge. It is my favorite of the two. I'm going to look for a piece of wood to mount it on. If you like to use bird and nest images as much as I do in your artwork. Check out the link above. Also check out the Inchie page for a couple of sheet of inchie images. Thanks for stopping by! Comments always welcome. Arlene

Whimsical Butterfly and Polka Dot Canvas

Image
This is what I have been working on this past week. I recycled a 10 x 10 canvas and created this Butterfly and Polka dot painting. The pattern is painted on all four sides of the canvas. I painted the background and drew the butterfly on a piece of card stock. I painted it before cutting it out and adhering it to the canvas. I've used acrylics, gesso, a pitt pen, a sharpy and a charcoal pencil and distress ink on this piece. I still have a few finishing touches to add and then I need to seal it. Thanks for stopping by!
